Throwback To Neckline Detail & Cardigan Knit In Zara Extra Fine Merino on Superba Knitting Machine

Throwback to a cardigan in Zara extra fine merino DK made on my Superba double bed knitting machine.

Photo 1 showing neckline Raglan neckline & sleeve seams intersection, and travelling stitches transitioning into collar.

Photo 2/ Shows a personal Modified Saddle Shoulder Cardigan pattern block that I drafted based on my measurements, but left at home when I went on a month long knitting retreat. I ignored my better judgement and knit this Zara Merino cardigan without modifying it to my actual size, and of course it ended up way too small, and in a fit of anger I unravelled the whole thing. Lesson learned.

Photo 3/: final finishing stage, after all sections seamed. Awaiting yarn ends to be hidden and final steaming.

Happy Knitting.
Patrick

Superba & Big Phil 9mm Gauge Knitting Machine Carriages

Photo of my Superba S9 and Phildar Big Phil 9mm gauge home knitting machines in my studio in Toronto. These are both extended bed versions with 126 needles vs the standard 115. Beautiful machines that in comparison to the Brother and Japanese Singer 9mm bulky machines, still allow you to feel the hand of the yarn as you knit, as these are Intarsia knitting machines, stocking stitch knitting machines at their most basic and you lay the yarn across the needles each row by hand, prior to moving the carriage, which forms the new row of stitches.

Happy knitting!
Patrick
